International Thyroid Awareness Week 2010
Welcome to the official website supporting the second International Thyroid Awareness Week
(24 - 30 May 2010).
This year’s awareness week will be focused on educating couples about the impact of thyroid problems on fertility, pregnancy and child development. Through this initiative we hope to help women with thyroid problems across the world get the help and advice they need. As a mother of four children, two of whom have hypothyroidism, I know how important it is that thyroid problems are recognised and treated as early as possible.
Through my son’s experiences with hypothyroidism, I have witnessed the impact the thyroid has on male fertility. It is extremely important for both men and women to be closely monitored when trying to conceive, and for women, monitoring throughout pregnancy is essential to help prevent future problems for both mother and baby. It is my hope that I will become a grandmother again in the autumn!
This website provides helpful advice and information on living with thyroid conditions for all members of the family.
